A little behind the times as usual, the Wife and I finally got around to seeing the Academy Award winning film Juno.
Academy Award winner?
Really?
I guess it MIGHT be a hit with pretentious kids who think they are that smart, verbose and witty. The same kids who think The Hills is good TV and Good Charlotte is a punk band. The kids who liked Transformers and think Shia LeBeouf is cool.
But an Oscar winner for Best Original Screenplay?
Ok, to be fair a lot of shitty movies have taken home the Best Original Screenplay Oscar.
Lost in Translation. Thelma and Louise. Even Ghost, for fuck’s sake.
And I’ll argue that The Usual Suspects has, in time become an overrated waste of time.
But look at some of the GOOD movies that won.
Chinatown. On The Waterfront. The Sting. Citizen Kane. Sunset Boulevard. Fargo.

Juno is a fucking John Hughes movie at best. (not that I have a problem with John Hughes, really)

Well, my life anyway. And the lives of about 9 or 10 million of my fellow game geeks. Grand Theft Auto 4 hits the shelves today. Say goodbye to $60 and hello to Liberty City.

Do you Hulu??

April 26, 2008

Simply put, Hulu fucking rules. Tons of your favorite old TV shows (Dragnet, Adam-12 and Emergency) and plenty of good new shows (Heroes, The Office and 30 Rock) shows that were cancelled too soon (Firefly and Arrested Development) and much, MUCH more (though the movie selection kinda sucks) all free with very limited interuptions. Did I mention it’s free??
Go thou and get your Hulu on.

Oh, Jesus Christ no….

I posted a Billy Squier video.
Fuck you. It’s a Christmas song and it’s Christmas.
You didn’t have to watch it.
Clean out your earholes with Fugazi’s 13 Songs and Legend – the Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers. You can thank me later.

I Am Idiot…

December 5, 2007

Hollywood star Will Smith had the producer of his latest film holding his head in anguish on Tuesday after the actor gave away the ending of “I Am Legend.”
Speaking at a Tokyo news conference, Smith inadvertently revealed the plot, prompting co-producer and co-screenwriter Akiva Goldsman to shout: “Don’t give away the ending!”
Goldsman then pretended to be surprised, but it was all too late, and press handlers asked all present to keep the ending a secret, so as not to spoil it for viewers.
Smith plays a virologist fighting a man-made virus in “I Am Legend,” the film adaptation of Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same title.
The movie premieres simultaneously in the United States and Japan on December 14.

Gave away the ending???
That’s like saying don’t tell me what happens at in Titanic, I want to be surprised. Or, don’t spoil the end of Passion of the Christ. Anyone who’s ever read the book knows the ending, for that matter some people might be able to figure out the ended from the title alone.
My wife did.
BTW, in the book, Robert Neville(the Fresh Prince’s character) isn’t a “virologist”… he’s just a dude. And the end? He dies. Hence, he (and all mankind) becomes legend. Get it?
There. I just saved you $8 and 2 hours of your life. You’re welcome.

Will Smith, ladies and gents, another Hollywood idiot.
